The Air Jordan XVII is one of the overlooked classics of the venerable Air Jordan line, in part because too many are foolishly dismissive of any model after the XIV.
Worn by MJ during his last return to the NBA in 2001with the Washington Wizards, the XVII is a silhouette that has long been due for a proper return, ( we are not going to count that BS Nike/JB pulled with the “Copper” colorway a few years back as a true return.) Newsrecently emerged that the “Lightning” Low was making a return in 2024.
At this early juncture, there are available images but what we should., with the operative word being “should” sees is faithful recreation its 2002 forbear. This means the sneaker should sport a white leather upper with a somewhat squared off shape and a black Dynamic Fit inner bootie. Lightning accents show up at the toe and the bottom of the lacing system with a silver Jumpman on the rear heel.
Underneath should resides a lightning TPU shell, behind which lies a blow-molded Nike Air unit, an additional one in the forefoot, silver rear bumper and a black, grey and lightning rubber outsole.
The “Lightning” Air Jordan XVII is slated to return next summer at nike.com and select retail establishments; they will carry a whopping 300 USD sticker price.
